Theme: Language Education Landscape in Bangladesh: Policy and practices for social change
The education landscape in Bangladesh is complex and textured with diverse issues involving a large population. Language being a critical foundation for education offers an interesting window to understanding this domain from various perspectives. Similarly, language studies today has emerged truly as an interdisciplinary area that can interact with various areas of studies in unique ways. Although Bangla functions as the national language in this multilingual country, English plays critical roles in education, governance, global engagement and shapes opportunities for individuals and various communities. There are also many indigenous languages who share important dynamics among themselves and also with the dominant languages such as Bangla and English. In recent times, the country has experienced shifts in education policies and strategies seeking accessibility, quality and sustainability. Despite various local and global efforts, the country faces persistent challenges related to access, equality, classroom practices, teacher preparation, assessment, rural–urban divide, and linguistic diversity shaping the overall English language education landscape.
BRAC University Journal of Humanities and Social Science resumed publication in 2025 after a long hiatus. The proposed issue “Language Education Landscape in Bangladesh: Policy and Practices for Social Change”, is dedicated to showcasing original research articles that are deemed to have a significant impact in language research education in Bangladesh. We invite contributions that explore policy discourses as well as classroom practices that involve diverse teaching-learning contexts as well as multilingual learners that shape the language education landscape of Bangladesh.

Manuscript Submission Guidelines
- APA 7th style guide needs to be strictly followed for preparing the manuscript.
- The word limit is 6,000–7,000 words (excluding references and appendices).
- Papers need to be written in British English using Times New Roman 12pt font.
- Each paper must have an abstract of 250–300 words with 5 keywords.
- All tables and figures must be numbered and labeled.
- Ensure that permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets, and other materials provided with this submission.
- Please make sure that this manuscript has not been previously published, nor is it currently before another journal for consideration.
- For publication, the decision of the Editorial Committee will be considered final.

The papers will be sent to two reviewers for blind review. We also use plagiarism checkers and AI detection tools. Authors are required to declare any conflicts of interest (financial or non-financial) and any use of AI in the preparation of the manuscript.
